Support Human Rights

We want to speak out, but also to take action and support humanitarian causes for people living the horrors of wars

Find or create a local group

EU civil servants committed to European Values of Peace Building, Human Rights protection and international law enforcement are creating local groups in many EU institutions

“Eu Staff For Peace” (EUS4P) is a spontaneous and informal group for nonviolent direct action, open to all civil servants of the European Public Function that share and support the values of peace and justice embedded in the foundations of the European policy, in the European treaties, and in the same idea of “European Union”, where military clashes between countries were replaced with political cooperation with democratic tools for the common good.

We are a group of EU civil servants and retired staff. Loyal to the institutions we serve and committed to the principles enshrined in the EU Treaties, showing many opportunities of action missed by EU towards the man-made crisis in Gaza.

In particular, Article 3 of the Treaty on European Union states that

“In its relations with the wider world, the Union [ ] shall contribute to peace, security, [ ] the protection of human rights, [ ] as well as to the strict observance and the development of international law, including respect for the principles of the United Nations Charter.”

This group of volunteers is acting to provide out of good will:

  • safe space for colleagues wanting to speak out and express publicly their concern for, and opposition to, ongoing aggression wars;
  • support group for workers of the European public function that may feel limited in their freedom of expression or harassed because of their actions against wars, are in doubt about the most appropriate conduct for a person that is at the same time an European civil servant and a supporter of peace and justice, or just want to share ideas, proposals and knowledge among like-minded colleagues, to get rid of the isolation, impotence and frustration feelings that are common when facing structural, military and geopolitical problems;
  • public platform to join voices asking for the enforcement of international and humanitarian rule of law, protection of civilians, non-military infrastructure and humanitarian agencies in war zones, suspension of any EU funding and military support to States and governments under investigation for genocide and war crimes, like the Israeli government in the context of the military aggression to Gaza and the Russian government in the context of military aggression to Ukraine.

If you share our concerns and feel the weight of your moral responsibility to stand on the right side of the history in face of an ongoing genocide described as such by the United Nations, genocide scholars, international organizations for the human rights, israeli historicians, holocaust survivors and israeli NGOs, join us to promote the european culture of peace, respect of human rights and enforcement of international law, following the principles of EU treaties and worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize acknowledged to the EU.

Our moral compass is guided by international law, EU Treaties, and European and humanitarian values.

“An official has the right to freedom of expression, with due respect to the principles of loyalty and impartiality.” (Staff regulation –  Article 17a)
